For some it’s schoolwork alone while others take on more tasks than they can handle. At the end of the day, we are all just trying to make good enough grades to make our education worth it. If there is one thing we all tend to have in common, it’s the time crunch. For one reason or another, we tend to stretch ourselves pretty thin.

The undeniable fact is that there are only so many hours in a day. There is nothing we can do to alter this, but we have to learn to work around it. Find a schedule that works for you. If you are feeling like the days go by too quickly, it means something has got to change. Some people feel better when they go to bed at a decent hour, and get an early start. Others would rather stay up and work the night away while getting the necessary rest by sleeping later in the mornings. It’s certainly not the same for everyone, but it is vital that we prioritize sleep. I’m not saying that we will all be getting 8-10 hours each night, congrats if that’s you! However, it is important for us to have a regular sleep schedule where we get a healthy amount of shut eye. Of course, there will be days where sleep is the least important thing going on, this is normal. With deadlines and commitments, sometimes not everything can be accomplished. Just remember that unhealthy sleep schedules will catch up with you, don’t let it become a habit!

What’s the trick to getting it all done in one day? There isn’t one, because most of us would agree that the list of demands and tasks grows faster than we can work. It all comes down to priorities. Do you need to get cleaning done? Will you workout today, or get ahead on homework? Try and pick one or two time-wasters and kick them to the curb. Sure, there will be days that we can knock it all out, but unfortunately that’s not always everyday. We have to accept the days where we leave a few tasks undone, and know that it does not mean we failed. Not every day can be a perfect day, and that’s okay.

While we understand that every day’s to-do list may not be fully accomplished, we must continue to set goals. Both long-term and short-term things we are working towards will keep us motivated. Keep in mind, these aspirations don’t have to be as big as moving mountains. While I would never discourage anyone from setting goals bigger than most, I also want to point out that there is nothing wrong with those who choose smaller checkpoints to keep them going. We can’t let ourselves get overwhelmed by the vastness of it all. Focus on taking life in the steps that are right for you. Some may take strides while others tiptoe to where they are going.

How do we make time when there is none? Planning and prioritizing will save your life. Lastly, don’t forget to breathe.

HCXO!
