How to Jazz Up Your Planner

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

Planners are a great way to keep yourself organized, especially as college students. We have to keep up with tests, assignments, meetings and work schedules, so it is a necesity to have a planner in hand! A typical planner can be quite boring to the eye at first glance, but they contain so much potential to be fun and decorative. All you need are a few crafting supplies and planner stickers from pinterest and you’re ready to take your planner from drab to fab!

Washi tape originated in Japan and it can come in many different colors and patterns. It can be used to make cute borders on the calendar pages or separate daily tasks on the weekly pages. You can also incorporate different themes to your pages by using similar colors and designs each week depending on your mood. Just like washi tape, sticky notes come in different designs and can also be in different shapes. They can be used to add in special dates and appointments, and they can be removed and placed in new spots as your schedule changes!

Summer Kellsey on YouTube has a few videos on her channel dedicated to how she decorates her planner and how she plans each week. She shows you step by step how to make planner stickers, which can be used on the side pannels of you planner and in the days that are left blank to fill up the white spaces. To help keep up with certain pages in her planner, Summer created donut, castle, and coffee cup shaped planner clips with decorative construction paper and large paper clips. These planner clips are a fun spin on bookmarks, and the look so cute sitting at the top of you planner! Summer found that scrapbooking her planner is quite therapeudic and it has overall inproved her organization!

Taking your planner to the next level with DIY decorations is super affordable, and it will look more personal to you.  It doesn’t matter how you decorate your planner, if you like the way it looks and it keeps you as organized as possible that’s all that matters. Go out and pick ups some crafting supplies that catch your eye, and get to work!
