HC: What are your aspirations in life?
IG: I aspire to continuously be positive about life and spread positive vibes to any and everyone I come into contact with. I never tell people I aspire to be successful or anything of that nature because I know that’s something I’m already going to be blessed with. I aspire to be positive each and everyday because it’s not something that’s been with me throughout my entire life.
HC: What are you involved in on campus?
IG: I am the current President of the Organization of the Year, The Black Student League as well as the founder of the Collegiate Women of VSU which I am now just a general member of. I was also inducted into Sigma Alpha Pi Society of Leadership and Success in Spring of 2012.
HC: What are you currently doing to influence students on campus?
IG: Currently I am one of many student leaders on this campus that continuously look out for other people and try to help guide anyone [who] may be thinking about transferring or who needs someone to talk to. I have been here for 4 years so I look at myself as a mentor for students [who] are younger than me or who just haven’t been as involved in campus life as I have. Being an involved Blazer is what makes your whole college experience.
HC: Why should you be chosen for Homecoming Queen?
IG: I feel like I should be Homecoming Queen because I am VSU’s biggest fan. I was a Resident Assistant for two years and that’s what really got me started in digging deeper into what our campus has to offer. I’m at all the athletic events, I support other organization events, I support all the different department events such as the arts, as well as participate in bringing in new students by talking to them at visitation days. I have done so much for the campus and community through my organizations and I feel as though it is only right to have someone who is so passionate about their school to be the next Homecoming Queen!
HC: If you were to be crowned Homecoming Queen, how would you use your title to impact our campus?
IG: I would continue to do what I always do. I feel like I exude the qualities of a homecoming queen already just without the title. I will continue to support everyone in any way possible and will continue to tell everyone how amazing our university is.
HC: What sets you apart from other candidates?
IG: My positive attitude is something that definitely sets me apart from other people. I don’t let many things get me down because I know what’s important and what is not. I wake up everyday with a smile on my face because I’ve already put it into the atmosphere that it’s going to be a great day.
