It’s human nature to strive for more, want more. It can be body image, mental health, relationships, opportunity, living situation, workplace, and so much more. It is easy for us to become dissatisfied with what we have going on for us at the moment and that is entirely normal and expected.

A key point for us all to recognize is that if we are unhappy with any aspect of our lives, it is time for change. That change may be minor or drastic, it may involve taking action or letting things play out on there own. Most importantly, a constant unhappiness means that it is time to acknowledge that something is not working at the moment (or hasn’t been for a while).

You have to figure out what step has to be taken in your situation, because it will be different for everybody. Do you need to make a plan to get to where you want to be? Is there an action you can take everyday that will get you one step closer to what will bring you happiness? Don’t be afraid to take drastic measures if that’s what it’s going to take to get you to your happy place.

While change is great and it’s a step many people incorporate into their lives in one way or another, it’s not always a choice. Sometimes we can get stuck. We can end up in situations where our ability to alter how things go is minimal, or simply not possible at this point in time. It is those sources of unhappiness that we must learn to embrace. I’m not saying to never be happy. I’m simply addressing the fact that life can throw us some curve balls that we can’t do anything about, and those are the times it is most necessary to find the “silver lining”. There are endless clichés about how to handle things that you can’t handle such as, “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade” and “you can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf”. As corny and sometimes overused as inspirational quotes may be, there is a strong truth in every single one of them.

It’s as simple as we allow it to be, if you can’t do something about your circumstances, it’s time to accept them for any bit of good there may be.

HCXO!
