It’s officially fall, otherwise known as “bae season.” It’s the time of year to put the moves on the one you’ve had your eye on. The air is getting crisper and cooler, the leaves are changing, and the feel of fall just makes you want to nestle up with someone cute. Here are a few ideas to get the flame going!

1. Pumpkin Carving

Fall wouldn’t be fall without a visit to the pumpkin patch! Grab your significant other and search for the perfect pumpkin to carve your love into. It’s fun, creative and messy! This gives you a chance to be silly and express yourselves all the while getting to know each other and making memories.

2. Terror in the Wild at Wild Adventures

Every year for homecoming, VSU students get a free pass to Terror in the Wild at our local amusement park, Wild Adventures. Terror in the Wild is a haunted attraction with scare zones and haunted houses to venture into. For us girls, this usually means clinging on the arm of a guy and letting him hold us tight as we try to keep the screaming to a minimum!

When we are frightened we release a neurochemical called dopamine, which researchers have found makes us more attracted to the person we’re around while we are scared. So basically, it’s pretty much scientifically proven that if this was a first date, you’re more likely to have a second or third if you play your cards right. So make it a date and let someone protect you from the terror in the wild! You can thank me later. ;)

3. Bonfires

Fire plus s’mores and a crisp fall night equals good times and starry eyes. One of the best things about this time of year is the bonfires! Nothing better than sitting by the fire with the scent of burning wood in the air, sharing stories and watching the flames dance in your significant other’s eyes. Bonfires are an extremely cozy way to share a moment with someone! So grab some chocolate, marshmallows and fire logs and watch the fire ignite, figuratively and literally!

4. Haunted Trail

The annual Haunted Trail, brought to you by Campus Recreation, is another great idea for a date! I did mention that nothing can bring two people closer like a good scare, right? The cost is $5 at the entrance. The trail dates are October 28th-October 31st, from 8:00 to 10:30 PM.

5. Stargazing

Now I know this doesn’t seem like your average date, or may even seem like a cheesy love scene from a movie, but it’s definitely romantic and something out of the ordinary! Find a spot on the front lawn or somewhere remote to just take in the night sky. Bring a blanket so you can even cuddle! It’s often that we forget the beauty of things around us because we get so caught up rushing through life. What better way to spend the night than with your favorite person counting the stars? It’s the little moments that matter the most!

Hope your fall season is a warm one, collegiettes!
