10 April Fools’ Day Pranks to Watch Out for

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWF chapter.

After St. Patrick’s Day and Easter, some of us are probably thinking that the holidays are over, especially since finals are staring down at us, but don’t get too comfortable just yet. April 1 is April Fools’ Day. Being surrounded by college students that desperately love to procrastinate and laugh, makes this the most important day of all to remember. Even if it’s for no other reason than to protect your personal items and fight off prank-related misunderstandings all day.

With that being said, here are ten pranks to keep in mind this April Fools’ Day;

1. Someone changing your entire contact list on your phone

This has the potential to be hilarious, but if the names are swapped around instead of completely changed to fictional characters, this could be horrible.

2. Post-it Note on the little ball of your computer’s mouse so it can’t move

The meme face says it all. This can get frustrating quickly, especially if someone does this to the library computers.

3. Someone hiding an alarm clock in your bedroom and setting it for 3 A.M.

Nobody loves the morning enough to be happy about this prank.

4. Shortcuts on your phone

A grammar nazi’s worst nightmare. The possibilities are endless, and this is why phones should be password protected at all times, but especially around April Fools’ Day.

5. Someone saran wrapping your car

No. Just no.

6. Fake spiders or insects

The classic prank has now been upgraded with the introduction of technology. There are now remote controlled spiders that can move and mimic the creepy arachnid.

7. The classic Nicolas Cage prank (that can be done with any celebrity)

As I’ve mentioned before, procrastination and laughter are a horrible combination.

8. Toothpaste Oreos

Why the Oreos? Some things should be left alone.

9. Soda can tab

Just turning the tab 180 degrees makes for a brilliantly evil way to keep someone from their caffeine.

10. Chewbacca Voicemail (or any other kind of weird voicemail)

I did not know this was a possibility until thorough research. This takes the cake.

Whether this list made you laugh while becoming slightly concerned or made you start thinking about pranking your friends this April Fools’ Day, please stay safe as you celebrate. Or, you could just stay locked up in your room until April Fools’ Day is over.
