How to Dress for Seattle Weather!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWB chapter.

Seattle’s weather can be crazy and  unpredictable. Especially around spring time. When it’s raining and the sun comes out all in the same day it can be hard to dress fashionably and appropriately but here are some tips!

Pack a rain coat:

This seems obvious but a rain coat is much needed in Seattle, even in the spring. Rain coats are super light you could keep it in your backpack or bag easily. A rain coat is perfect for when you want to wear a cute outfit but don’t want it to get ruined by the rain. And, if the sun comes out, you can just throw it in your bag!

Layers:

Okay so maybe it’s not raining, but it’s freezing in the morning although you know by afternoon the sun will be out. The best way to combat that is to layer! Layers are so important for quickly adding or removing warmth. Throw on a shirt you like with a cardigan over that for a nice and warm springtime look. Also, don’t forget a jacket for extra warmth when it’s still cold.

A tote:

In Washington you never really know how much you’re gonna need to wear to stay warm. You could bring a tote with you to carry your extra layers or the rain coat you take off when it stops raining. You can also keep makeup or accessories, such as some sunglasses, in your bag! A “tote” is perfect for anything you want to bring with you but don’t want to wear all day.

Leggings:

Leggings are a great way to go when the weather is unpredictable. Not only are they extremely comfortable but they’re versatile too! There are are many ways to style leggings in any type of weather!

Hats:

And finally, a great accessory for crazy or unpredictable weather is a  hat. They’re so easy to wear or take off and store in your bag. If it’s cold outside you can wear a beanie for warmth. If it’s warm or you want a hat to add style to your outfit or protect your hair from the rain you could try a cap-style hat. A cap also works to protect your eyes from the sun. They have many different colors and brands of hats out there, you can find one that works for your style!
