Name: Michelle Miles

Hometown: Charlottesville, VA

Year: 2nd year

Major: Undecided – probably Studio Art and English

What are you involved in around grounds?

I’m a studio art scholar in the Miller Art Scholars program, a consultant in the digital media lab on Clemons 3rd floor, and I’m involved in a number of committees that are working to promote accessibility around grounds. I’m also a features editor and photographer for V Mag, sound designer for Shakespeare on the Lawn’s Tempest, and on the publicity team for the Black Monologues.

What are some of your favorite things to do in Charlottesville?

One of my favorite things to do is to pack a picnic and watch the sunset on the Skyline Drive. I also love the food scene here! There are so many great restaurants and cafes (Mas, Brazos Tacos, Mariebette, etc. – SO good). The Virginia Film Festival in November is also always a favorite event of mine.

What is your favorite UVA tradition?

Making mondos in Kevin Everson’s film class!

If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

Probably Bora Bora or Bali! I’m currently lamenting the end of the summer sunshine (and having free time).

What is your favorite fall item of clothing?

Anything suede (vegan of course), anything camel, and super soft high-neck sweaters!
