Charlottesville & UVA Top Lists

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

It seems that everytime I check Facebook, Twitter, or even the home page of Yahoo! News, there’s a new “Top ____ Places to Live/Study/Attend/etc.” Most times, the friends of mine who are posting these lists are fellow wahoos, and are publicizing them because our beloved University, and city, are often highly ranked. The more lists like these that I encounter, the more pride I feel in attending such a great school. So, for all you curious Cavaliers, I’ve compiled all of the notable mentions that Charlottesville and UVA have recieved in recent years.

Doesn’t this just make so much sense? Everytime my parents visit all they talk about is how they nearly hit a million joggers on their drive down the Corner. It seems as if everyone gets in a daily run, Pure Barre class, or trip to the AFC.

Happiest City in America: Charlottesville, VA (Read article here)

Another no-brainer. The atmosphere, the small-town feel of a decent-sized city, and the friendly residents make C-ville the perfect place to call home. The US National Bureau of Economic Research captured quantitatively that all of these factors create one happy population.

14th on “Most Restaurants Per Capita List”: Charlottesville, VA (Read article here)

My bank account statement could’ve told you this. With so many restaurants on the Corner, up Route 29, on the Downtown Mall, and in the Belmont area, it’s impossible not to want to try them all!

2nd Best Public School in the U.S. : UVA (Read article here)

Using criteria based on location, the atmosphere of campus life, academic prestige, and the cost and ability of financial aid, US News determined Mr. Jefferson’s University to be the second best public school in the country, just behind UCal Berkeley.
