The transition for high school to college can be tough but this week’s Campus Celebrity is adjusting just fine. Get to know Aliyah Huland El as she talks about being a Wahoo, her first semester at UVA and being on the Women’s Basketball Team.
What is your favorite thing to do during your free time?
I watch basketball games online, do some shopping online, and look up poetry of my favorite poets.
Can you describe what it’s like to be on the women’s basketball team?
It’s been a great experience spending time on and off the court with my sisters! There’s never a dull moment when I’m with the team, and I know I can speak for everyone else when I say we pick each other up when one of us may be down. We are a family and we make one another better.
How has your semester at UVA been so far?
It’s been a roller coaster ride to say the least, but it’s been a lot of fun! School has been difficult, but I’m proud to have come out of my first semester at a solid academic standing.
Best part about being a Wahoo?
My favorite part of being a Wahoo is being a part of a camaraderie that seems like one of the best in the nation. Our sports teams are outstanding, constantly breaking records and receiving accolades and the academics here are even better than the athletics! I don’t think there are any drawbacks of being a Wahoo!
