Last Minute DIY Halloween Treats and Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UTSA chapter.

DIY Treats

With Halloween being today, it’s so exciting to see all of the cute treats you can make! Here are 5 easy peazy DIY Halloween treats that are perfect for any kind of last-minute party!

MANDARIN PUMPKINS

Honestly, this takes zero effort! All you need is a bag of mandarin oranges and a Sharpie. This is so quick and healthy.

Quick Tip: Use a thin Sharpie to draw the face you want and then color it in with a thicker Sharpie!

LOLLIPOP GHOSTS

These lollipop ghosts are so cute! What you need: Bag of blow pops, Tissues, Sharpie for the eyes, and festive curling ribbon. All you have to do is wrap the lollipop around the tissue, tie it with the ribbon, and draw some spooky eyes. Viola! You’re all done!

GHOST PRETZELS

If you’re really desperate, you can just buy a bag of Flipz chocolate covered pretzels, but that’s no fun! You can use either white chocolate, or white candy melts. The candy eyes are about $2.50 at Walmart or HEB.

Don’t forget to tap off any excess chocolate in the bottom hole so the ghost’s mouth looks open!

MELTED JACK O’LANTERN BROWNIES

If you don’t like brownies…well, that’s on you. While you let your brownies cool out of the oven, grab your bag of marshmallows and dip them in orange candy melt. Drop a little chocolate chip on top for the candy stem.

Quick Tip: Be sure to let the entire pumpkin dry before you make the face! Some melted dark chocolate will do the trick!

OREO EYEBALLS

All you need is a pack of Oreos, Life Saver gummies, chocolate chips, and red candy melting chips. You can get all of this at either Walmart or HEB. Carefully remove the top of the cookie and eat the other half! Melt the red candy by heating in a microwave for a 30 seconds or until smooth.

Transfer red candy into a Ziploc sandwich bag so it’s easier to design the eyeball veins! Place the gummy on top of the cookie for the iris, and the chocolate chip will be the pupil. Design the veins in anyway you want, place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes, and you’re all set!
