When You’re the Girl Who Loves Food

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

For many girls, food is just fuel. To others, it’s taken in small amounts because #FitGainSwoll. Then there are those girls like me who LOVE food. And that’s an understatement. When I say LOVE, this doesn’t mean that it is as simple as relishing every bite of breakfast, lunch, and dinner; this is about a lifelong love affair which supersedes any other relationship.

Here are the signs that you might identify as one of these girls:

1. You are ALWAYS hungry.

No matter what time of day, how much you just ate, or what you’re going to be eating in the near future, you are ALWAYS hungry. If your girlfriends suggest a late night fries and shake run, you’re up for it. If you just had a full three course dinner including complimentary mints, you can always stomach a little cheesecake or ice cream… and you’ll be foraging through the refrigerator for a midnight snack soon after.

2. You love talking about food.

When talking to your best friends or boyfriend, food is always a welcomed topic of conversation. When it comes to comparing Five Guys to In ‘N’ Out, or reminiscing about that slice of pizza you had for lunch, you are always ready to offer your two cents and you never get tired of it.

3. You can out-eat most people

You are not intimidated by a 6’3” muscular guy who challenges you to an eating contest. While he might be able to put away five thick slices of French toast, you can put away seven. And when it comes to hanging out with girlfriends, while they might be full after one sandwich, you aren’t satisfied until you’ve had at least three.

4.You have to pace yourself on dates.

While on a date, you have to take advantage of the free meal, but of course you can’t overdo it. While you could order five sides of Buffalo wings all for yourself, you have to share. That means that if he eats two wings, you can have two wings. While it might be difficult to make sure he has his fair share, and you would happily consume all of them, you have to reign in your libido and be kind.

5. Sharing is NOT Caring.

If you order your food, then it is yours. Yes, you might share a tiny bite or two, but anything more than that is a painful sacrifice.

6. Food is always the answer.

Aced an exam? Pizza. Having a bad day? Pizza. Excited about a first kiss? Pizza. Just broke up? Pizza. Bored? PIZZA.

There is no shame in being a girl who completely loves food. In fact, the bonus about being so emotionally invested in food is that it can never let you down like other relationships might! So chow down, and enjoy every bite.
