There are a lot of stresses that come with college life. Studying, annoying roommates, difficult professors, the list goes on and on. When you get back to your dorm at the end of the day, you need a space where you can ultimately relax, unwind, and let the day’s worries drift away. Here are some things you can add to your dorm room to help you reach a more calm state of mind:

Lavender Essential Oil

You can keep this in your desk drawer or on your nightstand. Whenever you’re feeling stressed, rub some on your temples. The scent is soothing which helps your stress melt away. You can also dab some on your pillow for ultimate relaxation when you go to bed.

A Yoga Mat

A rolled yoga mat doesn’t take up much room and can easily be stored under a bed or put in a corner. You don’t have to be a die-hard yogi or ridiculously flexible to benefit from yoga. There are simple poses that anyone can do that will set your mind at ease. Want to learn some easy poses? Here you go!

Green Tea

Keep some packets of green tea in your dorm room for you to sip on when trying to wind down from a crazy week. Green tea is crazy good for you and has a lot of antioxidants, so you can feel good on the inside and outside. Squeeze a little honey in with it and you’ll have a delicious, healthy drink!

Strands of Christmas Lights

Bright dorm room lighting can be harsh. Putting up white, Christmas lights around your dorm room ceiling is a great way to create a mellow atmosphere. They are also pretty cheap, which is always a plus!

Reed Diffusers

Most dorms don’t allow candles or incense to be lit in the rooms. Reed Diffusers are a great way to make any space smell amazing. You can buy them at almost any grocery store, and they come in many different types of bottles and scents. Some relaxing scents you may want to try out are: Sandalwood, Rose, Jasmine, Vanilla, and Lilac. Tip: Once you have the reeds, you can stick them in the bottle of the perfume you love and instantly your dorm will have your favorite scent.

These items are affordable and don’t take up much room. They are great if you have been feeling stressed or just want to invest some time into yourself. So unroll that yoga mat and steep some tea because its time to de-stress!
