A Guide on What to Wear for Recruitment at the University of Utah

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Going greek is a big decision, and the recruitment process can be nerve-wracking. While you may be a little nervous, remember to keep up the excitment you had when you first decided to go through recruitment. It is so much fun, and you will meet so many amazing women! Dressing the for the day is important, but don’t fret; just be your beautiful self and you will do just fine!

Day 1 (Panhellenic Day): Unlike a lot of schools, the University of Utah does not give out shirts to wear for the first day of recruitment. You are encouraged to dress in a way that makes you feel confident, yet comfortable. Remember that you will be walking up and down Greek Row to six houses the first day so comfortable shoes are a must! A few great examples of a first day outfit could include a nice pair of jeans and a cute top, a casual sundress, or romper and a comfortable pair of sandals, either flat or with a low heel. My advice would be to wear makeup and jewelry that feels natural to you personally; remember that you want to display a true and confident version of yourself!

Day 2 (Philanthropy Day/Chapter Pride Day): The second day is a lot like the first, although you won’t be walking to as many houses this time, you still want to dress comfortable and in a way that makes you feel confident! You may want to change it up a little from the first day so if you wore shorts and a nice shirt on day one, why not switch it up to a simple dress or romper on Day 2? For the first two days, dress for recruitment at the University of Utah is pretty casual; they want you to show your true self in what you feel is the best light!

Day 3 (Preference Night): The third and final day of recruitment is a little dressier! This would be your day to pull out a nicer dress, pair of heels, do a little more makeup and add some more jewelry! You should still dress and look however you feel most comfortable but this would definitely be the day out of all three to dress your best! The girls in the houses you will be visiting will be dressed up as well so you definitely won’t look out of place! When getting ready for preference night, remember that this is a nicer event you will be attending so an idea of the style I would recommend is dressing for a nice dinner out with family, brunch with a grandparent, etc.

Bid Day: Congrats on getting through the recruitment weekend! On bid day, your house will provide you and other members with a shirt so all you have to do are pick out some versatile shorts, jeans or a skirt.

Good luck in recruitment, collegiates!
