Getting to Know Daan:

Describe yourself in 3 words:  Oh, I’m really bad at this. Let me think… friendly, calm, and sometimes shy.

What’s your dream job?  Starting my own business from scratch and being successful.

What are 3 things you can’t live without?  A lot of sleep, friends, and good food.

What’s your party anthem?  Show Me Love by Robin S. It’s really old, but really good.

What’s your favorite late night snack?  Pizza! But it’s probably stroopwaffle if I’m home [in Amsterdam].

What’s your guilty pleasure TV show?  New Girl and Oh Oh Cherso, a Dutch version of Jersey Shore.

Fun fact about you:  I can speak 5 languages: English, Dutch, French, Spanish and German.

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?  I don’t do crazy things haha.

Campus Life:

What’s your best U of U memory?  The first basketball game I went to. It was a fun experience since college sports is not big in the Netherlands.

What’s your favorite class that you have taken at the U?  Intermediate Corporate Finance taught by Professor Feng Zhang. He’s really nice and a good professor.

Best study spot?  I probably still need to find it, but the Marriott Library seems okay.

Best place to meet girls?  Classes… and gyms!

Where’s your favorite place to eat on campus?  That’s easy, Crimson View.

Dating Life:

Biggest turn on?  Nice hair, eyes and smile.

Biggest turn off?  Being really dumb and fake.

Deal breakers?  Bad smell.

What do you look for in a girl?  A girl that I can have fun with and who has a good sense of humor.

What’s the nicest thing you’ve ever done for a girl?  Hmm, I cooked dinner for a girl once.

Describe your ideal date:  Doing something we both enjoy and have some good food afterwards.

What’s your favorite pick up line?  Oh I have never used any, but a friend told me a couple yesterday. “Do you have a mirror in your pocket? I could see myself in your pants.”

U of U girls are the best because…  I don’t think they’re the best… Just kidding! U of U girls are the best because they are active, friendly and outgoing.

I'm a junior majoring in English. 2013-2014 Fulbright's Global UGRAD grantee.
