What I did for Thanksgiving as an International student

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tampa chapter.

You just realized that your friends are going back home for Thanksgiving break, and you have no idea of what to do! Don’t fret! Here are some things I did, and you could too if you’re staying behind in the future.

First, I started by knowing which friends are staying in the area for break. Most international students don’t go back home and spending break alone is no fun. Now that you have your group of friends for the holiday, here are some things you could do together!

1. If you have a kitchen, then go get food! The cafeteria is the only thing open during Thanksgiving break, so you will want to have your own food you can cook. Even if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, you can make yourselves a dinner because great food is the best!

2. Go to the beach! This is Florida, and the weather is always good for a day at the beach, but do take a hoodie cause it gets cold in the evening!

3. You can have a movie day! Freeform has their 25 Days of Christmas you can enjoy!

4. Of course go Black Friday shopping with your friends! Getting cheap stuff is always great, and when you go shopping with your friends, it is twice as fun. You can fight the old lady that wants that sweater you saw first!

5. Go for a walk in Downtown or Ybor. You can get food after too!

6. If you are behind in school work, take some time to catch up. Once school starts again, you’ll be happy you did your work.

7. And lastly, chill for a while! Lay down get comfortable, eat leftovers, and enjoy your free time!

Hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving break!
