You can shop ’till you drop, but there’s way to save $ while doing it.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

I have put together some tips on how to save money while shopping for all those shop-a-holics like myself…

  1. Don’t buy on impulse! Give yourself time to think because maybe you won’t wear that $36 dollar shirt as much as you think.

  2. When shopping make sure to check more than one store because there could be a better price at another store. I make sure to shop around.

  3. Don’t settle, if you don’t love it , it’s simple, don’t buy it

  4. Be patient! This is the number one key. Be willing to wait for something to go on sale. I actually have wanted white jeans but haven’t found the best prices, so I waited until I found the right price. I just bought white jeans this past weekend at old navy for 2.47. Yes, that’s right, 2 dollars. SO WORTH THE WAIT!

  1. If you want to save money learn to avert your eyes to that big CLEARANCE sign all the way in the back of the store. Learn to avoid the front of the store where tags read: $39.99. Learn to read more tags with $5.00 on them. I never even tease myself by looking at the higher price items and it’s a trick that works.

  2. Learn to be an online shopper. Even though you think online shopping can cost more because of shipping sometimes stores offer free shipping. You can find great deals on sites like: Overstock.com, amazon.com, ebay.com, etc.

  3. DON’T PASS ANYTHING! I repeat DON’T PASS ANYTHING! While shopping, take your time and while going through the clearance rack look at every item. Somewhere in the rack of 10-15$ items there is sure to be a 3-5$ item. I have found 3$ shirts on the clearance rack so many times at marshals where it was hidden.

  4. If you really want to save money keep in mind that great phrase “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Embrace thrift stores like: Plato’s closet, Salvation Army, Goodwill, and Revolve. Salvation Army is actually a great place to shop for fall wear. They have a lot of oversized sweaters and vintage jackets.
