What to Do When You Have Nothing to Do Over Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

This Spring Break I am not going anywhere. Why am I not going anywhere? Because I am an impulsive shopper when it comes to anything relating to music or travelling, and I bought two tickets to a jazz festival in New Orleans for next month. So, it looks like I am going to have to keep an eye on my wallet for the next few weeks in order to save up for the journey. This isn’t a problem though because I LOVE being a hermit and hiding myself away for a few days, and I am sure many people feel the same way. I know exactly what I am going to do during that time, and I thought it would be helpful to share my list of things to do since many others will, like me, have nothing to do.

#1 Read all the books you said you were going to read.

I have been planning on reading “In Scotland Again” by H.V. Morton for years. This Spring Break, I am finally going to get around to it! So, read that one book you said you were going to read five years ago. It will give you immense pleasure to feel that you finally can make another check on your extremely long and impossible reading list.

#2 Netflix binge.

Go ahead and ignore all of your family and friends by spending an entire day alone in your room watching “House of Cards.” Or “Bob’s Burgers.” Or whatever your funny little heart desires. You know you are going to love every minute spent wasting your life away on Netflix. Who doesn’t?!

#3 Get better at what you do best.

If you enjoy drawing, work on that during your time off. If you have a knack for playing piano, work on that. Pick one of your talents and improve it because even the best golfer practices on the weekends (cough, cough, Tiger Woods). Spring Break is the perfect time to improve yourself at what you do best.

#4 Get better at what you do worst.

Maybe you are not doing so hot in your Financial Accounting class. Work on that!  Practice makes perfect, and your time off provides you with the time to get better.

#5 Squad up!

Do make time to see your squad. Yes, you should take the time to spend some by yourself, but you know you have a few friends you have been meaning to see for ages. Now is the time! Head out to the beach and hang with your friends. Make precious memories.

#6 Tidy up, too.

Lastly, tidy up. Your room looks disgusting. Your bathroom would fail a health inspection. Grab a mop and get to work! Make sure you finish off your cleaning with a gentle air freshener so your entire apartment doesn’t smell like cleaning products.

Have a great Spring Break!
