Senior Hannah Hutchings is planning her next adventure. This summer she wants to travel to Southeast Asia for two to four weeks.
“I love it. That is pretty much my life, that is my focus for my life is living for Jesus,” Hutchings said. “That is why I am always so happy and joyful, because I know that I’m saved and I have a relationship with our savior.”
She will be going with around nine other people from the Christian group on campus, Commission. She joined the group a year ago and now is very close with the members, calling them a strong community. Hutchings is excited for their trip because she loves adventure, camping and going to the beach. Those are two of her favorite activities.
Not too long ago, the group went on a camping trip to Ocala National Forest.
“ It was so cool, usually when I go camping I’m the one who knows enough stuff to survive and help people out. But we all kinda knew a little bit of everything so we were all able to help each other out,” Hutchings said.
One of her favorite parts was at the end of the night.
“At nightime I had such a cool setup, I took the rain cover off so I could see the sky and the trees,” she said.
Hutchings is an education major who started her internship this semester.
“I get to go into the classroom on Mondays and Tuesdays. I’m there all day and I learn how to teach,” she said
She is at a local elementary school working with fifth graders.
“Being with the kids and building relationships is something I love to do. Getting to know people and spending time with them is super important,” Hutchings said.
