Shady’s back – WITH A BRAND SPANKING NEW SONG! Not only did Eminem come out of hiding with a new song, but the Queen B herself (Beyonce) is featured on it – like what?! November 10th marked this day that Walk on Water, Eminem’s new song, was released to the world. This is the first single that we have been able to hear off of Eminem’s new album Revival, and it doesn’t sound too much like what he has produced in the past.

Walk on Water is a bit more steady and the lyrics aren’t as intense as Eminem is known for. He is known for his dark storytelling, vulgar language, and disses. His attitude would come across very angry and hostile and although there are some jabs at people in this song, Eminem seems more vulnerable, having lyrics with a truer meaning of life and what he is going through. He opens up more about his insecurities and his uncertainty of where he stands in the hip-hop world after being gone for so long.

I will admit that when I first heard Walk on Water I was a bit thrown off of how different it was. I feel like he has done better but overall I truly enjoy listening to this song. It has more of a lighter feel to it, with Beyonce giving it a touch of gospel in the chorus with her soothing and angelic voice. I feel like his old music is what these rap artists now are providing in their music – music about pointless things such as drugs, money, and objectifying woman. These rap artists are losing the sense of what music is really about and aren’t producing quality content. You can tell just from listening to this song how much Eminem has changed and is currently trying to rebrand himself. I can tell his songs are going to be similar to what Logic produces in the sense that the lyrics are going to be powerful and create a deeper meaning and story within each track on the album.

Critics may be throwing negative reviews left and right at Eminem about this song but I can find some good in it. I can’t wait to see him prove the haters wrong and show everyone that the Rap God is still inside of him, ready to be unleashed.
