Get the Most Bang For Your Buck This Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

Spring break is around the corner and you’re probably looking for ways to spend your break without splurging. Just because you may be balling on a budget, doesn’t mean that you can’t make the most out of this mini vacation. Below are a list of suggestions to get you started on planning this year’s killer spring break.

1. Take a roadtrip

Traveling by air is expensive. Instead of splurging on a plane ticket, you can save that money for other expenses, like dining out. Driving to your destination is more budget-friendly and you will have a blast doing it. Download your favorite tunes for the ride and make a list of landmarks that you’d like to stop by on the way there. Gas can be split amongst your friends and the road trip will give you time to bond.

2.Plan Your Meals

Plan ahead and look up restaurants that you’d like to try. Most places have their menus posted online so you can get an idea of their prices. By doing this, you can set aside money that is to only be spent on food. This will help you budget and not overspend. Another great way to save money on food is to eat in. Go to the grocery store and stock up on some food. It’ll give you an excuse to show off your culinary skills.

3. Airbnb

Hotels are expensive. In order to cut down on cost, consider booking a house or condo from someone on Airbnb. On Airbnb, people allow others to rent out their homes, for sometimes half the price of hotels. There are so many different options in various locations.

4. Beach it up

Around this time, there are a ton of other college students visiting the beach that you can party with. The best part is that, admission is free. What’s a more relaxing way to spend your break than being a beach bum? A little vitamin D never hurt anyone.

5. Camping

This is a great way to create a deeper bond with your friends and meet new people. Activities include bonfires, swimming in the lake and springs, hiking and mountain biking to name a few. This option is more adventurous. It will allow you to cook your own food and camping ground fees are a lot cheaper than a hotel.
