Dorm Decorating for Fall 2012

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

The time for fall decorating is finally here! But for those living in dorms, it’s tricky to decorate in such a small space. There’s no big dining room table, no room for family to visit for the holidays, and no roaring fireplace to set the mood for fall. No worries though, there are tons of ways to perk up your tiny space and show that fall is here! Here are a few easy ones:

Fall wreaths on your door are inviting, but if you want to try something different this year, try these brown paper bag flowers! All you have to do is cut out leaf shapes from a brown paper bag, fold them, and stick them together. You can get as creative with these as you want. Make different colors, sizes, and shapes, and put them on your dorm room door as well as all over in your room!

Gourds and squash are all over for the season; why not display them as vases? Find one such as a butternut squash, and then cut off the top and hollow it out. Its color is subtle enough that it’ll look great with any color of flowers that match your décor.

A fun and unique way to set the mood for fall is to display mini pumpkins floating in clear glass containers of water. Wine glasses and vases are great for this, and make an interesting conversation piece for your dorm room.

Sunflowers are in for the fall, and can brighten up your room. Here, indulgy.com shows a simple way to show them off. Here is a foam ball covered in fake sunflowers. They’re super cute and can be hung without sacrificing precious dorm space.
