Accounting- undergrad, 5th year CPA candidate

Delta Sigma Pi- Chapter President
5. What made you choose USFSP
for your undergrad and grad?
I really like the small class sizes. Also the College of Business has a good reputation, especially the accounting program. Also the campus is very unique and beautiful, close to the water and downtown St Pete.
6. Why did you decide to run for president in DSP?
I’ve been involved with Deltasig for about 3 years now and I’ve served as the VP-Finance for 3 semesters. I wanted to take the opportunity to help the chapter grow and give back to the brothers. Some of the veteran leadership will be graduating in the next couple semesters and it’s important that we’re positioned well for success through training of new officers and chairs as well as increasing our levels of brotherhood and service. Those were my two goals for my term as president; I wanted to make a difference for the Fraternity and the campus.
7. Do you feel like your involvement in a professional business fraternity has allowed you to grow personally and career wise?
Absolutely, it was definitely a talking point in some of my interviews. The networking opportunities and other opportunities are awesome. You find yourself coming across situations and thinking: “Oh! I know how to handle this!” And it’s through getting involved and experiencing everything that Deltasig can offer you, even though you don’t necessarily realize it at the time. For every credit there must be a debit, so you will only get out of something what you put in. Involving yourself in an organization such as ours, your rewards are proportionate to the time and devotion that you put into it, the possibilities are endless.
8. If you could get a trip anywhere in the world, everything paid, where would that be and why?
Germany, Poland, England. Just kinda romp around Europe for a while. So many cool old things to see. And good beers to try! I love a good adventure and I’ve always dreamed of going to Germany especially.
9. relationship status
Been dating the same, wonderful young woman for over 3 years now.
10. What do you plan on doing career wise?
I’m hoping to become a partner at a local or regional CPA firm.
11. Are you employed? If so, what do you do?
Yes, I’m a staff accountant at a local CPA firm, Strawn, Marshall, Cunningham, Condon & Sweat PA. We just go by Strawn Marshall usually.
12. What could you advise undergrads and incoming freshman about college?
Get involved ASAP. Find something you can really get on board with. My #1 regret is not getting involved sooner. And don’t slack off too much, it’s easy to let your grades slip, much more difficult to make a final push to get them back up by graduation.
13. Pepsi or CocaCola?
CocaCola all the way
14. Number one thing on your bucket list?
Travel the country. There’s so much to see right here, so many different places and people and cool things to see and do.
15. If you could change one thing about USFSP what would it be?
A College of Business building! I know it’s getting worked on now, and I’m excited that we will finally have one. Hopefully with a nice little office for DSP.
16. Any further comments? shout outs?
