One of the best things about attending a music festival is discovering artists you have never heard of before. There have been multiple times where I have been to a festival only really knowing a small handful of the artists and leaving with new bands to listen to on my spotify. I am always looking for new music to listen to so this really is one of the greatest feelings ever.

In December of 2016, I attended Next Big Thing, an alternative rock music festival hosted by 97x and various of their sponsors. This time around, the only artists I was really wanting to see and knew of were the The 1975, Capital Cities, Judah & The Lion, and Kongos. I had never really listened to the other artists that were also on the lineup but I was completely open and excited to hear what they were all about. By doing this, I found a new artist whose music I have completely fallen in love with- Bishop Briggs.

Bishop Briggs produces music that has catchy beats with drops that would just blow your mind. Every time I listen to her music, I can’t help but want to jump up and down while bobbing my head to the beat. Unfortunately, when she was at Next Big Thing I was only able to catch her perform two songs but within just a couple minutes of listening, I was already impressed with her voice. This girl can SING and before the first song even finished I made sure to write her name down so that I could look more into her music after the concert.

I had recently heard that Bishop Briggs would be coming to where I currently live but before I bought her tickets, I found out that she was on the lineup for Bullstock,  a free concert held at the University of South Florida in Tampa. When I saw her on the lineup, I was at the computer desk at my job and pushed my rolly chair far back with my jaw to the ground. I was so excited that I was given the second chance to see her perform more songs that I now know the words to. The lineup for this event this year wasn’t that great so it made it that much harder to wait for her performance later on in the night. When Bishop hit the stage I was so ready for what was about to come that I just could not contain my excitement, screaming until she put the microphone to her mouth and sang her heart out. Since there wasn’t many people there I was able to get really close to the front of the stage, much closer than I was for her at Next Big Thing. Being this close allowed me to see just how adorable of a human being she is. During her performance,  she was full of energy, running back and forth on the stage and banging her head to the beat of her music. As soon as the song would end, she would intertwine her fingers to the front of her with the biggest smiles ever. You could tell that she was enjoying herself so much and just loved the energy from the crowd as we all sang along with her, it was so cute.

Later on that night, she posted a couple pictures of the concert on Instagram where she mentioned how much of a good time she had with all of us at the University of South Florida. It made my heart so happy to see and I wish she knew just how much of an amazing time she made Bullstock for me.
