Series to Look out for: 18 & BaldingBy April 21, 2013 - 12:05pm After a radio talent search in Tampa went bad due to timing, Devon Alter, 18, created 18 and Balding. When a scout asked him if he had any work he could listen to online, and the answer was no, this light-hearted podcast series came alive. Coming out weekly, Alter is aiming to hit the 18 to 30 year old demographic. This mass communications major is focusing on radio broadcasting as a future career. He laughs and says, “I don’t want to say I want to be a household name but that’d be nice. Looking to Get in Touch with the Water? Join the Marine Adventures Club!By April 21, 2013 - 12:00am The Marine Adventures Club, or MAC, is a new club dropping anchor at USFSP. Headed by junior Krista Abbott with support from Professor Judkins of the Science department, the MAC, as the name suggests, is a club dedicated to getting in touch with the marine environment of our area, learning about marine science and the importance of conservation while having a roaring time out in the sun. Activities include, but are not limited to, kayaking, fishing, snorkeling, sailing, visits to different zoos and aquariums, and clean-ups of the beaches and estuaries. Who Wore What When: CoachellaBy April 16, 2013 - 12:00pm The 14th annual Coachella music festival’s first weekend of shows took place in California at the Empire Polo Field this past weekend. Not only is it a chance for music lovers to unite and come together over their favorite artists, but is also well known for the celebrity fashions that pop up throughout the festival. Many notable fashion brands threw parties throughout the weekend, including H&M, Lacoste, Guess, and Armani Exchange to name a few, and concerts ranging from artists such as Band of Horses, Tegan & Sara, Dropkick Murphys, Modest Mouse, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. CASA St. PetersburgBy April 15, 2013 - 9:15am Last Wednesday night, USFSP held their first ever Benefit-a-Bull Fashion Show, where students strutted their stuff wearing beautiful clothing from local boutiques and thrift stores from downtown St. Petersburg. This particular event wasn’t a regular fashion show, but was a charity fashion show benefiting CASA, a local non-profit organization. Many of the guests were asked if they could donate their used clothes to the show, which would then be donated to CASA’s thrift store. READ MORE |

Benefit-A-Bull Fashion show at USF St. PetersburgBy April 14, 2013 - 11:17pm The lights, runway and music were ready. The models were anxiously waiting backstage. The volunteers were putting the finishing touches on the first ever Benefit-A-Bulls Fashion Show in the University Student Center. Benefiting the local organization, CASA, the Resident Assistants, Residence Hall Association, Harborside Activities Board, Office of Multicultural Affairs and many other organizations worked together to create the first ever student-run fashion show on campus. Students that attended donated clothes to CASA, a domestic violence awareness agency. Local boutiques and shops donated all the clothes that were shown on the runway. READ MORE |
