Spirit Saturday: Green and Gold Accessories

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Collegiettes™, it is a must to show your school spirit in college, whether it is all out at sporting events or subtle hints throughout the week. While most people usually think of school tees, tanks, bottoms and other clothing or accessory items, there is a lot more that you can do to show your school spirit. Whether you decide to dress more formal all the time, want some ideas for when you are dressing formal or just love showing off your school spirit, these are easy and effortless looks. Now, let’s start showing off that USF Bull Pride!

Nail Art

Okay, nail art can be really difficult depending on the design, but I promise that these two are super easy! One look is to paint your thumb, pointer, middle and pinky finger forest green, and your ring finger gold. It can be plain gold, metallic gold, glitter gold, sequin gold, or whatever you like best. It is called an “accent nail” because while the other fingers may be the same, this stands out and adds a unique look.

Another look is to paint all of your nails forest green and paint the tops with gold glitter polish, fading as you go down. I know this one sounds more difficult, but if you are using a gold glitter polish (as opposed to a regular gold polish) it should be just as easy! Both looks are easy, fun, simple and school-spirited.

Jewelry

Jewelry can be toned down to wear on a casual day to class, or toned up to wear on a first date in Downtown Tampa. Why not add a bit of green and gold in with the mix? Statement necklaces are really trendy and can be worn with anything from a cute top and jeans, to a nice dress. Bangles can be mixed and matched with different colors, metals, designs and brands. If you already have a few bangles that you love to wear, like Alex and Ani bracelets, then you can mix in some pretty green and gold ones for instant USF pride!

Makeup

While they say that the point of makeup is to make it look like you aren’t wearing any, there isn’t anything wrong with having a little fun with eyeshadow colors. Now, this look can be as subtle or as bold as you want it to be (as provided in the two examples). While the bold style gives fierce look for going out on a Friday night, the more subtle look might be best for during the day. If you want the subtle look, then sweep gold shadow across your lid and lightly apply a forest green shadow to your crease and outer corner. If you want the bold look, do the same but (carefully!) add darker shades of green and black where desired.

Are you ready to show off your gorgeous green and gold hues, collegiettes™?
