The spring semester has officially begun and that brings new classes, new students and new music. College can be stressful, and music helps a lot of students calm their anxiety and just keep a positive attitude during a hectic week full of assignments and quizzes. While winter break may be over, we can still dance like nobody is watching!
Below is a playlist of fun, upbeat songs that are great for anytime, from singing along in the car with your best friends to a well-deserved study break.
Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars
I saw a live performance of this on “The Voice” finale and instantly got hooked – as did the rest of the country – because this song is currently number one on the charts. Bruno Mars seems to travel back in time and take us with him as he takes things a bit slower than typical pop music and pays a tribute to old, funk music. It is certainly unique and sticks out in terms of beat, pace, lyrics, overall vibes and the fact that it lacks a chorus, which might contribute to it’s popularity. It is fun and a catchy tune that should be on everybody’s playlist for this upcoming semester.
Lips Are Movin’ – Meghan Trainor
We loved “All About That Bass” and this song proves that Meghan Trainor is not just a one hit wonder. While both hit singles are upbeat and overall positive, the two songs have completely different messages: one was about being confident with your body, and one is about leaving a boy who is a liar and a jerk. Despite the different messages and lyrics, most people can relate to both of them! We have all felt bad about our bodies at one point or another and we have all dealt with somebody who just lies nonstop. Meghan turns those relatable messages into upbeat, happy music and we love her for that!
Beg For It – Iggy Azalea
Iggy Azalea took the past year by storm, and she does not seem to be stopping anytime soon! “Beg For It” has Iggy’s signature sound that nobody could miss, plus the song is totally fun.
Animals – Maroon 5
Maroon 5 has been making music for years and they never seem to disappoint. Adam Levine has a killer falsetto and rightfully shows it off in nearly every song he sings, and this song is no exception!
Jealous – Nick Jonas
Nick Jonas was a young heartthrob in The Jonas Brothers and nothing has changed since then! Well, he has changed and transformed from a tween to a young man, who is writing and producing his own music like this hot single.
