Meet Her Campus Member Jasmin Lankford! She is a junior here at the University of South Florida and the Editor-in-Chief of Her Campus USF! Read more about Jasmin below!
Her Campus: Where are you from and do you like your hometown?
Jasmin Lankford: “I was born in Miami, FL but lived in Jacksonville, FL for the majority of my life. I would consider Jacksonville my hometown because we only take occasional trip to Miami, but I love them both very much!”
HC: Why did you choose USF as your undergraduate university?
JL: “I chose USF because the major and minor I wanted were here and also the campus was absolutely beautiful!”
HC: What are you majoring in? Do you have a minor?
JL: “My major is mass communications with a concentration in magazine production and my minor is English creative writing.”
HC: What are your favorite places around USF and the surrounding area?
JL: “Around USF, I love Mojo’s Books & Music! They satisfy my Beatlemania!”
HC: Who is your celebrity crush?
JL: “My celebrity crush is definitely John Legend. He has an amazing voice and he’s so handsome! I wish he would come back to campus again.”
HC: What is your favorite social media website?
JL: “My favorite social media website is WordPress. Go read my blog!”
HC: If you could give some advice to your 13 year old self, what would it be?
JL: “Don’t be afraid to be yourself. There is only one you in the world. Also, don’t try so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out.”
HC: What’s one book you read that you couldn’t put down until you finished?
JL: “That happens with almost every book I read (nerd alert), but the latest is “Sharp Objects” by Gillian Flynn.”
HC: What do you turn to for inspiration?
JL: “For inspiration, I usually bounce ideas off of my friends to see what they would like to read about. I also like to look online at fashion blogs, online shopping sites, Pinterest and Polyvore. If it is crunch time on any assignment, I often think of a floral painting of mine hanging by my bed. It has Proverbs 31:25, “She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future.” That Bible verse inspires me to push forward in anything with faith and without fear.”
HC: What are your career goals?
JL: “I would love to write for a fashion or lifestyle magazine and publish fiction novels.”
