To the Girl Who Doesn’t Think She Can

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

I know you’re trapped in a life of chaos right now. You have the pressures of school weighing you down. You are stressed about finding a good job and I completely understand the anxiety you have about the unknown future. I know what it’s like to feel stuck, just like you feel right now.

We seem to know what we want but we don’t know how to get there.

We know who to talk to but don’t know what to say.

We know how to do something but we are just not confident.

We all have goals that we want to achieve in life, in school and our career. Even with all the hustle and bustle we have to stop ourselves and reflect. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Believe in yourself

Believing in yourself is they key to every goal you make. A little faith and a little trust will get you far. Mr. Feeny taught us this a long time ago.

2. Plan it out

Having a plan will give you a sense of peace that you WILL reach your goal. Imagine yourself taking the steps to reach a goal, then make it a reality by DOING IT.

3. Dream about it

Yup that’s right, dream about your goals. Each night before you go to bed visualize yourself making the right moves to reach your goal.

4. Have patience

Patience is a virtue. You will fight and strive to reach your goal. You will be faced with obstacles. No matter what, you must stay positive and have patience. No one reaches their goals over night. Breathe and focus.

5. Talk it out

Don’t be afraid to talk to people about your goals. You never know who is listening and you never know who can be a helping hand. Getting help is the best thing you can do to reach your goal.

Reaching your goals all depends on YOU. You are your biggest obstacle. It’s YOU that decides how much effort you will put in. It’s YOU who can say yes or say no. It’s up to YOU to have the courage to do what needs to be done.

You can do this. You can do anything.
