6 Beauty Products Every Collegiette Needs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

In college, we’re always on the run, and whether we’re on the way to class, work, or just out for a night with the girls, we want to look and feel our best. These products can be used multiple ways, can save time, money, and help you put your best face forward.

1. Dry Shampoo

Dry Shampoo is the ultimate time saver! Just spray a little on your roots, rub it in, and it soaks up the oil in your hair. It saves you that extra 10 minutes in the shower you could be using to hit the snooze button on those rough mornings. This also helps if you’re simply trying to add a little volume to flat hair.

2. Coconut Oil

This stuff is crazy useful, and is not only the best moisturizer dry skin could ask for, but can be used for hair, nails, and is even edible! Make sure to only take it out of the jar with a spoon, or clean hands if you plan to use it for cooking so you don’t cross-contaminate. Also, if you love the taste and smell of coconut, try unrefined coconut oil!

3. Neutral Eyeshadow Palette

A great neutral eyeshadow palette will round out your makeup collection, take you from day to night in a flash, and will be the ultimate travel palette. Soft, matte neutrals are great for class and the office–medium browns, taupes, and light pink shades. Smoky, darker neutrals are great for transitioning to date night–darker browns, purples, and shimmering gold shadows. Best of all, whether the look is going to take you to the club or to the grocery store, most neutrals are universally flattering and go great with any outfit!

4. Professionally Matched Foundation

Most of us are too busy writing essays and solving equations to spend much time trying to match a foundation to our skin tone. Plus, the rules are always changing; do we match to our faces, or our necks? Our wrists? The best way to combat the confusion is to ask for help! Walgreens and Sephora both have employees trained to match your foundation for you and recommend one that is right for your skin type, texture, and any allergies you might have.

5. Tinted Lip Balm

What’s not to love about tinted lip balm? It treats your lips, leaves a hint of color, and if you really score, protects your lips from the sun! You don’t have to worry about applying your lip balm meticulously in the mirror, as it’s usually so light that getting it perfect isn’t necessary.

6. Sheet Masks

Sheet masks are on trend right now, and for good reason. This is simply a treatment soaked cloth that you lay onto your face for about 15 minutes and makes your skin look and feel amazing. The cool treatment helps energize the most fatigued face while the ingredients work to fight acne, aging, or dull skin tones. As opposed to clay face masks, these are just as effective without the 10 minutes it takes to rinse off.
