LA Events in November

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USC chapter.

With midterms coming to an end and finals just around the corner, there’s no better time to “treat yo’self” with a trip off-campus. Next time your friends invite you to Bacaro for the 10th time this semester or want to attend yet another mediocre party on the Row, suggest a much cooler event off-campus instead. To help you out, here is a list of events throughout LA for the month of November:

Red Bull Sound Select: Nov. 1 – Nov. 30

The Red Bull Sound Select is a month-long event and concert series. Concerts feature a variety of A-list and up-and-coming artists including HAIM, Jeremih, and Charli XCX, just to name a few. Events include movie nights, dance parties, record swaps, and more. There will be a concert or event every night at multiple venues in LA.

TORUK – The First Flight: Nov. 11 – Nov. 13

The latest Cirque du Soleil show is touring in LA for three days at the Staples Center. The elaborate lights, displays, and performances in Toruk were inspired by the movie, Avatar. It aims to transport the audience to an alternate world – even if just for an hour or two. Tickets start at $39.

Abbot Kinney Festival: Nov. 4 from 5-11pm

The first Friday of each month, local merchants and vendors gather throughout the Abbot Kinney area to sell products, food, art, and more. This event is perfect for those who love unique products and goods. Grab some friends, venture to Venice, and get ready to shop.

Film Noir at Union Station: Nov. 4 at 8pm

Union Station in downtown has been featured in several film noir classics over time. On Nov. 4, the train station is playing film noir classic, Criss Cross. The film will show in the ticketing office of Union Station. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis – and it’s free!

ComplexCon: Nov. 5 – Nov. 6

The 2-day concert held in the Long Beach Convention Center features Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, Skrillex, and more. ComplexCon is home to cutting-edge brands, music, food, and art. One-day passes start at $45 and the two day experience will cost you $80.

Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights: Until Nov. 5

Universal’s annual Halloween event. The theme park is decorated with all things Halloween and features scare zones, mazes, and a “haunted tram ride.” Bring a group of friends or a special someone to protect you from all the zombies with chainsaws.

Snow Los Angeles: Nov. 10 – Dec. 23

Yes – snow in Los Angeles. A (synthetic) snow tubing park is opening up in the Echo Park area for you to get your winter weather fix just in time for the holidays.

Wicked Lit: Until Nov. 12

Still reminiscing on Halloweekend? The Altadena cemetery has you covered. The cemetery is hosting a walk-through, where you stop three times and are told horror stories through theatrical productions.

Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival: Nov. 12 – Nov. 13

A 2-day concert held at Exposition Park – yes, so close to campus you don’t even need to Uber. The festival lineup includes Chance the Rapper, Schoolboy Q, A$AP Rocky, and more. Better yet, apparently there’s a waffle bar.

Downtown Culver City Festival: Nov. 16 from 5-9pm

The third Wednesday each month, dozens of businesses gather in downtown Culver City to provide entertainment, food, music, and art work. If farmers markets are up your alley, this is the place to be. Culver City is now one of the hottest areas in LA for good food and trendy art.

LA Zoo Lights: Nov. 18 – Jan. 8

The LA zoo, located in Griffith Park, hosts an annual holiday light experience. The zoo hosts visitors every night until early January and boasts thousands of light installments – including a purple, disco ball forest.

Hey there! My name is Katherine Lee, but I go by Moi- a childhood nickname that has stuck throughout my entire life.  I am originally from the Bay Area and now I'm student at the Annenberg School of Communications and Journalism at USC.  The one thing I love more than hitting the gym is hitting every good restaurant wherever I am.  A foodie and a gym rat makes me quite a contradictory person, but I hey- I just like to keep things interesting!
