This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPRM chapter.

This third-year Psychology major is taking advantage of her collegiette time while juggling two minors in Writing and Communication and the Teacher’s Prep Program. While working as a Guidance Student in Orientation Week over a year ago, Coralis bumped into Alanis, the current Campus Correspondent of the HCUPRM chapter. Coralis details the moment, “[she] talked to me about how great Her Campus was. I fell in love with the idea instantly.” On top of that, what also motivated her to join was the idea of exposing her own ideas to a wide audience and discovering the warm and kind community the team is.

At the moment, Coralis is one of the Writers at the chapter and enjoys what Her Campus has taught her, which among many things includes showing her that she’s “capable of having a voice.” This freedom meant that she could also contribute her own experiences, share with others, and “create solutions and bigger ideas to help form” the world and the influence Her Campus has, as a literature and opinion medium and ultimately, as a vehicle for social impact.

In all candidness, Coralis admits, like many collegiettes, that she has no idea of where she will be in the next 5 years. However, she aspires to graduate from Colegio and to keep studying because she’s discovered in her the desire to keep learning and discovering new things. “All I’m certain of is that I want to be doing something that makes every day count.” With these goals and within her day to day life, she always holds as her motivation the idea of improving herself constantly; “We only get this one life, and I want to make the best of it.

Purely inspirational advice is what Coralis offers to her readers, especially fresh-women and collegiettes. Almost like a pep talk, she goes on, “It’s not a horrible as it seems, you are capable of doing anything you set your mind to. If this is what you want, don’t give up. Everything will be worth it, pinky promise.” When we finally asked her what she would tell her past self, Coralis would be strong and uplifting by saying “Thank you for not giving up, now it’s my turn to show you what I can do.
