What to Wear to 5 Días con Nuestra Tierra

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPRM chapter.

It’s finally that time of the year: The Cinco Días con Nuestra Tierra fair! This year, it will be celebrated at Parque de los Próceres. Therefore, we have to prepare in order to dress to impress. Cinco Días is all about paying a tribute to our wonderful Mother Earth and this guide will help you do it in style.

1. Keep it short

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but for me short jeans are the real BFF. No matter where you go, a short pair of jeans will make you look cute and and will be comfortable. They are perfect for Cinco Días since it’s an outdoor activity at a park, and can be used for both day and night.

2. Less is more

Remember you are not going to Coachella nor any other music festival. Keep your accessories small and don’t wear too much bling. Perhaps, wear some small earrings and a necklace. If you don’t have any, don’t worry, you can buy them from one of the artesanos during your time at the festival.

3. Be natural

How can one pay a tribute to Mother Earth without being natural? Wear light makeup and keep it as simple as possible. Let your hair flow, braid it, or just put flowers on it. BE CREATIVE! Be yourself and don’t forget to wear your priciest possession: your smile.

4. Don’t, please, do not wear heels!

Heels won’t help you make it. Leave the heels at home and bring your comfiest pair of shoes. There is so much to see and explore. Trust me, they’ll be ruined by the rain anyway.

5. YOUR BEST ACCESSORY WILL BE YOUR UMBRELLA

As always, it rains EVERYDAY in Mayagüez, and it will sure be a bummer to get all wet after putting so much time and effort into dressing to impress. Keep your umbrella with you at all times, you won’t regret it!

If you follow these basic tricks, it will guarantee you’ll have the time of your life. Now all you need is a group of friends, cash and you are ready to go! Have fun at Cinco Días and don’t forget to visit the artesanos and the chinchorreo.
