Physics’ McDreamy Giancarlo Jusino

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

We tend to overlook our Physics majors so much, we even forget the fact that they can be very, very (did I say very?) attractive individuals. This boy can literally show you the rate your heart starts beating when you look at him for the first time. He’s not all looks though: he’s humble, kind and witty as it gets. He may be a Physics major, but we’re sure he’s capable of causing a few chemical reactions in you:

Name: Giancarlo Jusino Sánchez

Age: 21

Relationship Status: Single

Major: Physics

Classification: Complicated (due to the fact that he transfered 3 semesters ago)

1.  HCUPR: Tell us, what are the perks of being a physics major?

Giancarlo: People get different things out of it. I like to understand and learn about the world around me, and Physics provides the right venue for it. It’s also pretty cool to learn all the theory and math; you get as close as you can to answering the questions of why are we here and to what end.

2. HCUPR: What is your favorite quote? Why?

Giancarlo: I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite quote, but I did put it on my twitter header for a while… So I guess that’s as close as it gets. “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.” Einstein said that. It’s an excerpt from a longer quote, but I feel that it captures the essence of the sublime happiness experienced by artists or scientists when they finish something of great worth to them.

3. HCUPR: Who’s your role model? Why?

Giancarlo: It’s funny, but the only “person” that constantly impresses me is Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek. Although a bit grave, he’s portrayed as a flawed man of character, philosophy, and poise. Just look at the arguments he presents in the episodes “The Measure of a Man” and “The Drumhead.” They’re truly relevant and inspired. The writers and Patrick Stewart came together to bring to life a truly marvellous character.

4. HCUPR: Describe your ideal date + partner:

Giancarlo: For the date…. I like it when impromptu things happen. Like getting caught under the rain, dancing, or an unexpected street show… I also like it when dates have an element of physical contact. I can’t stand going to the theatre or having dinner and not being able to comfortably touch my date. My ideal partner would be headstrong, willful, and smart. A wit like a whip certainly helps. I can be difficult to deal with at times, so the person can’t let me walk all over them easily.

5. HCUPR: If you could do anything without getting caught, what would it be?

Giancarlo: I would funnel money from ridiculously endowed private accounts to scientific research, education, and public health.

6. HCUPR: Something not many people know about you.

Giancarlo: I spend a lot of my time thinking about things “I” like. It sounds stupid, but today’s world is full of people trying to get your attention, time, and money. I think it’s important to step back from all the crazy, lie on your bed, clear your mind, and think of things that please and promote personal growth. You lead your own personal growth and development; not your parents, your university, or your employer. Otherwise, you will just become a confused sophisticated sentient tool honed by someone else.

7. HCUPR: What is the biggest thing you’re willing to admit?

Giancarlo: I ‘dawwww at pictures of cats and dogs on my Facebook all the time. One of my favourite parts of getting to know people is learning whether they have pets or not!
