UNT’s Dedicated Men is one of the newer organizations to become established on campus at the University of North Texas this year. Beginning in the Fall of 2016, it has set itself apart as a service organization making a difference in and around the Denton community. They haven’t stopped yet with their newest venture: #TheDedicatedFade.

“This event was hosted to promote professionalism by using Denton community barbers to give back to the students here at the University of North Texas,” said UNT’s Dedicated Men President, Joshua Okapara.

On Tuesday  April 3rd, Dedicated Men hosted an event for students to come out and get a free haircut. The barbers of Cutz and Recutz offered over $1500 worth of free haircuts for the event from 5-9 pm during a game night that came with prizes and all. Prior to this event, Dedicated Men hosted numerous fundraisers selling gifts, treats, and candy to UNT students. This fundraising allowed them to bargain a deal with the barbers, in which the shop actually gave a cheaper price just for the support of giving back to the community.

“This is really something great that you all are doing,” said Jimmy King, sophomore, to the organization, “I really needed a haircut.” Other guests to the event had more to say and praise about Dedicated’s efforts in bringing something new to the table in community service. Actually having an event cater to a vital need for students is what truly makes a difference in their lives. “Thank you so much for doing this, this is really giving back,” said Keishun Hickerson, a freshman.

Exec Member for the org, Austin Ford said, “I’m proud to be apart of the organization because events like ‘The Dedicated Fade’ allow students from UNT to receive free haircuts to promote integrity, leadership, and image on campus. In order to be successful, you have to be confident. That’s what our organization is all about.”
