Meet the Team: Meghan Gerdes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNL chapter.

This week we met up with Meghan Gerdes! Meghan is a junior advertising and public relations major at UNL. You can find her tossing bottles around at her bartending job at Barry’s in downtown Lincoln! Read on to learn more about her!

Her Campus: What are you most nervous for as graduation approaches?

Meghan: “As a junior, I am nervous that I only have one year of college left! I have loved college so far, so leaving that stage of my life behind is what I’m most nervous about.”

HC: What are your ultimate career goals?

Meghan: “I love fashion, sports, and entertainment so ultimately I want to work marketing/PR in one of those areas. I dream of doing PR for Kate Spade’s brand or working for the Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show.”

HC: What is your biggest pet peeve?

Meghan: “Passive aggressiveness, and extremely loud snoring.”

HC: If you could shop only one brand for the rest of your existence, what brand would you choose and why?

Meghan: “Kate Spade! I love the colors and creativity of the brand.  I love the brand’s personality: quick and curious and playful and strong.”

HC: What do you order when you go to your fav coffeeshop?

Meghan: “TEAVANA! I’m big on tea. I’m loving the green tea latte at Starbucks.”

HC: What’s your favorite place to go to in DT Lincoln?

Meghan: “I’m obsessed with Bison Witches.”

HC: If you could offer up some advice for incoming freshman, what would you tell them?

Meghan: “This is your time to pursue what you are truly passionate about, so if you really want to do something, do it! Don’t let outside influences sway you. This is your time.”

HC: What’s one thing on your bucket list you’re eager to cross off?

Meghan: “Super nerdy, I want to see the Hobbit huts in New Zealand… or attend NY Fashion Week.”

HC: What’s the best advice you’ve received ever?

Meghan: “’Do it to do it; not to have done it.’ Basically, do it for the thrill and passion behind it, rather than the prestige of saying you did it.”

HC: Any big plans for the summer?

Meghan: “Lots and lots of traveling.”

There you have it! Keep an eye our for posts written by Meghan this semester!
