3 Ways to Stay Active This Winter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNL chapter.

With the temperatures (finally) starting to drop, it always seems a little harder to find the motivation to stay active. If the rec center or a gym isn’t your cup of tea, here are a few alternatives to keep you moving.

1. Stairs

Just a simple switch can make such a big impact on your day! Opt for the stairs any time you have the opportunity, many of the building around campus have plenty of them and I’m sure your classes or apartments aren’t all located on the first floor!

2. Ice Skating

There’s nothing like mixing fitness with an opportunity for a social gathering. The best part? You’ll hardly realize you’re exercising. So grab a friend, boyfriend, girlfriend or even just yourself and head on down to a rink. Festive and fun, yes please!

3. Home Workouts

With the help of Youtube and the Internet, it’s easy to find aerobic workouts that will challenge you and get you off your feet. Not only that, they’re great when you have limited space, too! So when the winter days just get a little too cold you don’t even have to leave the comforts of your home to burn a few calories.
