Staying Motivated During End of the Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

End of the semester vibes are mixed for most UNH students. The weather is nice, and everyone would much rather lounge on T-Hall than be in a stuffy classroom. Finals are approaching all too quickly, but those are the last hurdle. They are the only thing standing in the way of an amazing summer so finish with a bang!

First off, coffee is your new best friend. Whether you grab one at Aroma Joe’s or Breaking New Grounds downtown, or even just a stale cup at Philly you’ll feel better with false energy running through your veins. Plus you will be less grouchy for those around you, and it helps with late nights.

Group Study Sessions can be super helpful. One of your classmates might understand something you don’t and vice versa. It’s comforting to know you aren’t in it alone! Also if your professor has an optional review session, try and go to it even though you don’t necessarily have to.

Set aside time to relax. Make sure you are not pushing yourself too hard. That one exam isn’t going to ruin your life if you don’t get an A on it. You probably won’t remember the presentation you’re nervous for in a month. Don’t stress too much, set aside time to watch some Netflix or take a nap.

Study outside – it’s good to get fresh air instead of being cooped up in your dorm, apartment, or library.

Make a to-do list starting from what you can procrastinate the least. It’s a great way to tackle big things in pieces.

Treat yourself! You deserve it.

SLEEP! Sleep is not for the weak, sleep is for everyone and you need it! Get 8-10 hours every night I promise you won’t regret it.

Saying goodbye to friends you won’t see over the summer is hard, but it gives you something to look forward to in the fall!

Summer is just around the corner!

Don’t let these last few weeks of school kill your GPA and the hard work you’ve put in all year. Stay focused, put your phone away, and do your best! On the other hand, don’t spend too much time studying that you miss out on spending time with your friends that you won’t see over the summer.
