Signs You’re Stuck in Your Awkward (Middle School) Stage

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Signs You’re Stuck in Your Awkward (Middle School) Stage….

  1. You’ve tripped in public (sober) at least twice this past month…

Let’s be honest, this happens more often than we would like to admit. But like most awkward middle school kids we are more embarrassed when things like this happen than necessary. Remember, no one else cares.  So get up, and keep walking.

  1. No plan is made without it being discussed with your friends…

Being as awkward as you are, you may want to check with your friends before doing something that may embarrass you. Whether its sending a risky text to a crush, or asking someone a silly question, checking with your best friend is always the first thing you do.

  1. You’re wearing a choker necklace…right now.

Yes chokers did come back in style briefly, but still definitely go hand in hand your awkward middle school years. Back when you thought the slickest ponytail was the way to go, it is almost guaranteed you were also wearing a choker.

  1. You need your mom whenever you are upset, overwhelmed, stressed, etc.

There is never a situation that doesn’t require even a little advice from mom. Whether you’re calling her to ask how long to boil an egg for or when your last physical was, we all need our moms. Awkward or not.

  1. You put your initials on everything

We’ve all owned a L.L. Bean backpack with out initials printed on the back. Some of us still continue to put monograms on everything. From our lunchboxes to our hats, if you’re still putting a monogram on your things…chances are, you may still be stuck in your awkward middle school stage.
