New Years Evolution

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Alright, so as Christmas approaches so does the new year! New Years Eve can be quite interesting to say the least, if you are a single pringle trying to find someone to kiss at midnight, I know how you feel. So normally a New Years Eve party consists of fireworks, lots of drinking, wearing something sparkly and trying not to die from frost bite or slipping in your heels when walking outside. Then at somepoint during the party, you make some obsurd resolution that you will loose 100 pounds when your current body weight is 130 (normally when a resolution like this is made your drunk…..or lets hope you are). Then the next day your grogily wake up, and hoepfully with a clear mind decide you won’t loose 100 pounds but instead 15, then over the course of that following year you always have that stupid resolution hanging over your head any time you reach for a cookie. So whats a girl to do? Well I propose for New Year’s Eve rather than making a New Years Resolution make a New Years Evolution, of the way you view a certain situation your struggling through. If it’s positive then either keep looking at it the way you always have, or switch it up and think of a new way in which it’s an added bonus to your life. If you view it negatively then think into why it’s happening and try to change your mindset for the better. Keeping an open and positive mind is the best way to always be happy and never dread a resolution again. After all who said resolutions had to always be about bettering (I have no clue if thats a word) the actions you do, why can’t they be about bettering your mindset?

Happy New Years!!
