MGMT Hopes to Shock UNH with an "Electric Feel"

Now that the first season of the Jersey Shore is over, and Jake gave his final rose, we are done quoting “The Situation” and have stopped trashing on Vienna. Since yesterday, you may have noticed a common update on a lot of your friend’s Facebook statuses. UNH’s Scope has finally announced who will be performing at this year’s Spring Climax!
And the winner is: MGMT!!!!
Wait, does that stand for something?
While some students claim to be loyal fans of this “indie-electro dance rock group” from Brooklyn, New York, many admit to never having heard them before.
Scrolling up and down my newsfeed, I read the responses of my friends - many are pumped, a lot are mad, and the rest don’t care.
One read: “MGMT - what a joke” and another purposed the alternate plan of crashing UCONN’s spring concert with Kid Cudi.
Others read: “MGMT so pumped!” and others posted lyrics to their favorite MGMT song.
According to Scope’s Facebook event “SCOPE presents... MGMT!”, MGMT is a Grammy nominated indie-electro dance rock group from Brooklyn N.Y. Their popular songs are "Electric Feel", "Kids", and "Time to Pretend" and they have announced their newest album "Congratulations" set to release April 13th, 2010. They haven't toured in years, so get ready to rock out in the UNH Fieldhouse!
Just before you start humming the tune of “Electric Feel” out loud, read the last words.
”..in the Field house”
Wait, M-G-who, in the field house? Why not a room in Hamilton Smith, or what about Horton 4?
With “pro-Whitt” statuses dominating the general reaction to friends on Facebook, I recall a familiar situation from before.
In 2008 when Ludacris came, Scope announced he would be performing in the gymnasium - a week before the concert Scope released a statement saying the concert would be moved to the Whittemore Center Arena. Perhaps the same could happen this year.
While the absence of a flashy, hip-hop superstar will be missed this spring, I do not think we should totally turn down the idea of a new genre of music coming to campus. We might not be able to tell our friends crazy stories from the backstage after parties the next morning but who knows, there might be something attractive about these two shaggy-haired rockstars.
Since when did UNH students stop partying like rockstars? And since when did we pass on a good time because we didn’t know the words to the song. Aren’t we the diverse, open-minded school who has a good time no matter what?
So I say, who cares?! Even if you are a music mongol or hold true to your beloved rap, why would you ever pass up an opportunity to drink, dance, and party with friends!
Whether you are excited for MGMT or disappointed that Drake or another mediocre rap artist is not coming, the call is yours. But just remember you might be missing out on the best night of your life.

ludacris was always set for the whitt. i think you're confusing that show with the lupe fiasco show. that one was moved from the fieldhouse to the whitt.
Love MGMT
Well... you're coming with me even if I have to wait in line tomorrow morning and buy your ticket for you haha. So excited!
I mean, I'm pissed
