Having Your Friend Visit You At College (As Told By Friends)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

So you finally make those confirmation plans with your long lost best friend to come visit you and hello, you couldn’t be happier. Finally you can be free of separation anxiety and spend a weekend with one of your favorite people.

The entire week seems to drag a little, but soon enough it’s Friday night and your friend is calling you asking which parking lot she can park in without getting towed. It takes you awhile but you think of one and direct her around the foreign campus.

Then the moment is finally here: the reunion! It feels so good to be back together again, you can’t help but hug it out.

The hug is over and there’s only thing thing on both of your minds: FOOD. Do you go to the dining hall? What if her dining hall is much better and she doesn’t like the food? You decide you’d rather be safe than sorry, so you go out to dinner near campus so you can really catch up. You love hearing about what your friend has been up to, but honestly what is taking the food so long????

So then dinner is over, and you’re somewhat caught up on what’s going on in your BFF’s life so you decide to head back to the dorm. Your friend lingers in the hall for a minute, checking out the dorm life, so you take the opportuinity to do a little last minute cleaning.

Let’s face it though, she doesn’t care if it’s messy or not. Really all she wants is to meet your school friends she has to share you with, and have a fun night. But uh oh, some of your school friends aren’t being too friendly with your home friend so she’s all…

But somehow miraclously, they find a common bond and…

Everyone’s getting along, and you’re ready for the night. Yay!

Before you can go out though, you need to at least have some type of plan. This tends to be everyone’s least favorite task, doesn’t it?

With no plans in motion, you decide to go out anyway. After all your bestie is here, becoming besties with your other besties and you just want to have a good time!

Finally you make it to a party and can all enjoy yourselves. Everyone’s dancing and having a good time, but then oh wait is that your friend over there in the corner surrounded by a group of guys?

Yup, that’s her.

You talk to your other friends and decide it’s probably time to call it a night and get some food. No one is ever opposed to the idea of late-night food.

Your school friends head back to their respective dorms, and you and your high school bestie decide to stay up and chat about old memories you made together. It might be the vodka, but you both start to get really emotional thinking about going your separate ways the following morning.

But before you know it, that dreaded morning does come, and it’s time to say goodbye yet again.

You walk her to her car, trying hard not to cry but then she makes a funny joke about how you’ll be back together in a few weeks for Chritmas and you remember why she’s your best friend, always making the best of any situation.

But as her car drives away and you head back to your (very messy, clothes thrown everywhere from the night before room), you realize you already miss her and can’t wait until you’re back together again over break.
