The Cave Boys

By Leah Tully
December 5, 2011 - 12:00am

This weeks campus celebrity is a two-for one deal! Presenting The Cave Boys! You may have heard their music wafting out of an apartment on the weekends or even seen them perform at this years Pumpkin Fest! Despite their impressive music resume, The Cave Boys are simply couple of friends who met in high school and started messing around with some songs in their basement to see if mixing their talents could produce anything worth listening to. After almost 63,000 hits on their YouTube page, I have a feeling they did something right! We were lucky enough to snag an interview with the two music mougles Elliot Tousley and Tony Fiel and here’s what we found out: READ MORE

Healthy Hummus Recipe

By Leah Tully
November 30, 2011 - 12:00am

If there's one snack you can never go wrong with and it's hummus! So tasty and so refreshing but some of the popular store-bought brands are ridden with unknown chemicals and ingredients that are totally unnecessary! Here's my own personal recipe that's quick and simple and super inexpensive especially if you're making a big batch to bring to a party!

Ingredients:
2 cans of low-sodium garbanzo beans (chickpeas)
1/2 cup sesame tahini (find it in the healthy section/international section of your grocery store)
The juice of 3 fresh lemons
2 cloves of fresh garlic
1/4 cup of water READ MORE

How to "Fake" the Bake

By Leah Tully
November 29, 2011 - 12:00am

I was born with the curse of Irish skin. As the years have passed and the ‘whiter than a ghost’ jokes have gotten older and older I have decided to take matters into my own hands. Being pale among a group of your bronzed friends just isn’t fun and since I’m not willing to risk my health or have the skin of crocodile before I’m 40, I’ve decided to investigate the world of self-tanners.

Don’t get me wrong, I (just like you might be!) certainly was skeptical after hearing the endless tales of streaky, splotchy nightmares that come along with switching to a tan in a bottle but have officially been converted! Here’s a few tanners my friends have suggested, I have tried and what the results were!

Holiday Baking

By Kary McCafferty
November 28, 2011 - 12:40pm

I love baking and every year around the holidays I look for new desserts to create, and not burn my house down with. This year I stumbled upon the recipe for a favorite dessert of mine with a Christmas-y twist. A chocolate trifle, but with the addition of candy canes and peppermint extract, becomes a Chocolate Peppermint Trifle. It’s delicious, pretty easy to make and looks downright festive! READ MORE

Beauty How To: Fix Broken Makeup

By Krystal Randall
November 28, 2011 - 12:40pm

I recently went through a tragedy that most of you girls can probably relate to: my favorite blush broke! We all know how this feels. It crumbles everywhere when you try to use it and makes a huge mess. I was contemplating shelling out another thirty dollars for a new one, but remembered an awesome and quick way to fix it. Here, I’ll share with you girls how I did it. Step 1: Gather your supplies. You’ll need your broken makeup (this can be done on any pressed powder makeup), a container of isopropyl rubbing alcohol, some paper to cover your table surface to reduce the mess, any sort of tool you can use to crush and stir your makeup. You’ll need this in the second step (I used the back of a marker), and any flat object such as a credit card or old gift...
