Attention Wilmington ladies (and gentlemen!) I have found your new favorite hair stylist. Ruthy Finch has about twenty years of experience as a stylist, and it shows in her work. In case you need to hear more before you go out and experience her talent for yourself, I’ll fill you in on my own experience with Ruthy at Seagate Hair Studio.
My Experience
Seagate Hair Studio is a quaint salon that will make you feel right at home. I didn’t have to speak to a receptionist or wait at all. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment, and Ruthy was waiting at the front of the salon to greet me.
The initial consultation with a stylist that has never worked with your hair before can be intimidating. I visited Ruthy for a cut and blow-out, and I told her I wanted to add more layers and shape to my hair. I had a specific vision of what I wanted, and have yet to find a stylist that could achieve the look. She asked questions to be sure that we saw eye-to-eye. I was so pleased that Ruthy understood the cut I was looking for, and she didn’t start snipping until she made sure of it.
The stylists are in and out of the salon all day. It was pleasant because there weren’t blow-dryers buzzing and people chatting loudly over one another. I was able to sit back and relax while admiring the coastal chic décor of the quiet salon.
Ruthy began her career in New York where she had built a heavy clientele. She decided to make the move to Wilmington, whereshe worked downtown, and then at Tanglez salon for five years. She has been at Seagate Hair Studio since the summer of 2014, and absolutely loves the new salon.
Have you ever been to a stylist that knocks you in the head with a brush, or practically pulls your hair out while blow-drying your hair? Not pleasant at all. Ruthy blew out my hair into a voluminous style effortlessly and comfortably. I enjoyed every second that I spent in her chair. When she finished and handed me the mirror to look at my new haircut from all different angles, I couldn’t hide the grin on my face. Finally! A haircut that turned out exactly how I imagined. I didn’t have to fake a smile and pretend to like what I saw. I loved it! I didn’t have awkward blunt ends like I usually do after a cut, and my hair almost felt longer than it did before I went in (Thank you, layers!) I will definitely be making my next
appointment with Ruthy.

I only got a cut, but Ruthy is also a very talented at color and up-do’s. She owns a separate business, Eternal Elegance, and creates beautiful looks for formal occasions—military balls, formals, you name it. Ruthy also does on-site hair and make up for bridal parties.
