An Open Letter to my Netflix Addiction

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

Dear my Netflix addiction,

First off I want to say thank you.

Thank you for the times we had. Thank you for always being there for me. You were always there when I wanted to procrastinate on my homework and avoid going to the gym. You ran away with me from my responsibilities by taking me to great and mysterious places like Riverdale, Scranton, and Stars Hallow.

All of those long hours we spent together during the holidays and breaks made me the college student I am today. Thank you for sharing different stories from what it’s like to be incarcerated with Piper Chapman and learning about Cuban culture with the family from “One Day at a Time.” You opened my eyes with different documentaries  and Netflix originals which taught me more than I ever learned while sitting in class.

What I am trying to say is that we have to take a break.

You know the type of break like Rachel and Ross from Friends, but I mean a real break where we don’t do anything with other people (#TeamRachel). I need a break because finals are coming up and I should focus on my school work and passing classes.

It’s not that you are not important to me, it just I can’t focus when you are around and I need to take a step back. It’s literally not you, it’s me.

See you in a couple of weeks. I will come back. I promise.

With lots of Love,

Julie
