5 Things For A Fun And Productive Fall Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

With only a few days for fall break, everyone should take full advantage of this breather from classes to catch up on schoolwork, sleep, and preparing for the upcoming change in season.  And we know exactly how to put fall break to good use.

1. Catch Up On Your Textbook Readings

Not only are textbooks annoying to buy, but reading textbooks for class can be a task easy to fall behind on. Like an extra-long weekend, fall break provides the opportunity to catch up on readings for classes or even to get ahead on reading. Either way, you will thank yourself for catching up on textbook readings and being prepared for a class discussion or impending test.

2. Get Ahead On Homework, Especially For Online Classes

Like catching up on reading, getting ahead on homework assignments helps you for the future by reducing the amount of work left to be done. And with a large majority of classes today submitting homework through the internet or existing entirely online, the ability to do and submit homework becomes mobile. This means that while you are at home for fall break you can easily curl up in bed with your laptop and knock out next week’s assignments.

3. Go Shopping For Next Season’s Necessities

Because in Wilmington fall and winter come much later than in other places, fall break provides a chance to prepare for the impending cold weather. Girls still wear high waisted shorts and sandals well into October, so go check out local shops for incoming fall trends or shop online so that when you return to campus you are ready for the brief few months of cold.

4. Netflix and Only Chill

Most people now understand the euphemism behind “Netflix and Chill.” However, sometimes relaxing and watching Netflix are key to a good break. Use the time you have to see old friends and finish shows that you started right before summer ended.

5. Sleep

Most college students today don’t receive a healthy amount of sleep per night due to immense loads of work and not enough hours during the day, so if you are going to follow any advice from this list, catch up on sleep. Use fall break to get your sleep schedule back on a normal path.
