5 Small New Year’s Resolutions You Can Start Today

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

I know that January is almost over but it is never too late to start a New Year’s resolution. Instead of trying to do one big resolution, like trying to lose weight or travel more, try a couple small ones.

1. A line-a-day journal.

Writing in a journal in general is one way to help decompress and reflect from the day. However, many people get caught up in the length of journal writing or fear that they have nothing to write about so trying to sum up your day in one sentence elevates that pressure.

2. Have a no-spending day.

If you are trying to save money but don’t really know where to start, then you should schedule one day a week where you do not spend any money. By doing this you start getting into a habit of eating whatever is in your kitchen already or staying in with your friends and watching Netflix.

3. Start a skin care routine.

Something I have personally become obsessed with is skin care, especially during this ever-changing cold weather. So, do a little bit of research and treat yourself to some moisturizer and/or toner that will benefit you and your skin.

4. Clean your room once a week.

Your bedroom is a safe haven after a busy, stressful day so it should be a clean and welcoming place. Once a week, take a mental break and clean your room so that you can just come home and relax in bed.

5. A little yoga everyday.

Gyms at this time of year are always crowded and kind of intimating so doing a little yoga at home can give you a little bit of a workout. You can search on Pinterest and YouTube for great beginner videos that range anywhere from 10-30 minute practices. Also, this is will help in the long run with stress and anxiety.

Have a great 2018!
