4 Planners that Help You Get Your Sh*t Together

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCG chapter.

With a new year comes new ideas and resolutions – many of which we hold for about a week…am I right?! Luckily, getting organized doesn’t have to be some mythical unicorn type deal. Having a planner, and the right planner for you, can help you organize your life and even keep up with any new resolutions you want to add to your plate throughout the year.

Some of my favorite planners are listed below. Although these are more pricey than something you can pick up from Target or whatever, each of these is more than a planner – perfect for the busy doer!

1. The Passion Planner

The Passion Planner seems pretty bland when you first get it, but this is what I love about it. After filling in both my monthly and weekly spreads (can start on Sunday or Monday as you order it, but only in an hourly layout for the weeks), I like to add in stickers and washi tape to jazz it up. The Passion Planner not only functions to organize your work/school life, but personal life and goals. With mind maps, goal setting, and reflection areas built in, this planner organizes and records you as yourself. This planner is available in two sizes, many colors, and even an Eco option! You can choose between a dated full year/academic planner or an undated planner. The undated option is great for people new to either The Passion Planner or just journal based planning in general. If you make a mistake…move on to the next spread and start again! Downloadable inserts are available online to print and keep track of various areas of life such as fitness and budget. I like to keep my printed inserts in the back pocket of the planner so I can grab them and paste them in at any time. The Passion Planner is available on http://www.passionplanner.com/ and Amazon.

2. The Erin Condren LifePlanner

The LifePlanner is another favorite of mine. This planner is particularly nice because of the multitude of ways you can have it customized to fit your style. As a result, this planner is perfect for the not so crafty soul who still wants something beautiful to plan with. The weekly spreads for this planner are available vertical, horizontal, and hourly. All aspects of this planner can be customized such as the cover design, color and type of spiral binding, page colors, and can even have a name, monogram, or quote on the cover. I find this planner to be a perfect fit for college students because of its simplicity and durability. Stickers, a pouch with other planner goodies, and a built in folder are a part of this organizational tool as well. The LifePlanner is available on https://www.erincondren.com/, Amazon and at Staples.

3. The Happy Planner

The Happy Planner is one of a kind with its discbound system. All of the monthly and horizontal weekly spreads and other pages can be removed from or added to this planner. I find this system to be particularly nice when adding in other random pages such as notes, or even some of the inserts made specifically for the planner such as a meal planner, pencil case, dry erase board, folders and so much more. This planner is great for keeping all things in one place whether you plan all year or just with the academic year version. Of course, adding all these things will make room an issue…but you can simply get larger rings and transfer your pages! With this system, your planner always has room to grow with you and your life! The Happy Planner comes in three different sizes and is available from http://www.meandmybigideas.com/create365-thehappyplanner/, Amazon, Staples, Hobby Lobby, and various other craft stores.

4. Plum Paper

This final planner is another neat option since it is also very customizable. Pick your planner’s size, binding, cover (interchangeable options for some variety throughout the year), and weekly layouts – available with monthly layouts alone for over all big plans! The various options of this planner make it suitable for your own way of planning. Planner inserts are also an option to help you keep track of fitness, wedding plans, budget,…etc. The simple lines of this planner are beautiful and useful for keeping even your plans looking good written down. One of my favorite parts of this planner is actually the water resistant and tear proof cover, making it ideal for planners on the move. Throw it around, put your cup of coffee on it. Go head, it can take it! This planner is available from https://www.plumpaper.com/, Amazon, and Etsy.
