Stressing About Your GPA

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UK chapter.

Like my dog, you should be suspicious.

Not worrying about your GPA likely contradicts everything you have been told since kindergarten. We are continuously reminded that our GPA will determine our scholarships, our internships, our future career opportunities and ultimately our entire future. So allow me to rephrase. You should stress less about your GPA, to a point.

The point of this article is not to reinforce #yolo or #treatyourself. Plenty of us are perfectly capable of procrastinating to the point of cramming for an exam 20 minutes before the start time.  Instead, I want to talk about why we (I am definitely including myself in this) should learn to stay calm during finals week.

Approaching finals week as a first semester junior has been drastically different than my first college semester. I started studying and completing assignments about a week before they were due (crazy, right?).  Even though this is difficult to do, it has left me with the idea that at least if I flunk out of college, I know that I tried my best.

Trying your best is one of the most underrated approaches to college. This means keeping in mind that your best may not be a 4.0, but also knowing that this is okay. You may not be as competitive in your field as you would like. Keeping up with assignments and studying throughout the semester and knowing that you did the best you could should be your focus instead of regretting what you cannot change.

So, keep studying but also remember to sleep and eat.
