When online shopping you never know what you are actually going to get when the item arrives in the mail and it is nerve-wracking when you pay a good sum of money for it.

I have been an excessive online shopper since I started college about three years ago. I want all of the cute clothes and random stuff that I see online, but I also want the real deal, not some cheap version of it.

I developed a plan for every time that I want to buy something off of the Internet and it usually works for me so if you want all of those cute, cheap shoes you should probably follow these rules:

  • Check Reviews

It is the most obvious thing that you can do to ensure that you are getting a quality item, or at least find out the quality. The reviews will tell you if you need to order a bigger or smaller size than what you normally wear or if that cute dress will fit you perfectly.

The reviews will also tell you if the item is even worth buying. If the majority of people say that the item was sheer and a different color that the picture then it is probably true. Granted, a lot of online shoppers may be exaggerating when the product does not live up to their standards when they bought shoes for $4 off of Wish. I always look for the reviews with pictures. Pictures can tell a lot about the item without other buyers influencing your decisions. If you really want the item, go for it. If the item was not as expected, get a refund and return it.

  • Spend Smart

If you are unsure of the quality of an item or that it will be different than the picture, do not spend too much money on it. The worst thing you could do is pay full price or near full price on a weird website for the new Anastasia Glow Kit. The majority of makeup sold on Wish and EBay, among other sites, is fake and can contain harmful materials.

Do not spend your money on something you know will not be real or expected. Some items may have problems with being too sheer (what clothing stores do not sell sheer clothing) or the wrong size, but you just have to be smart about buying it.

  • Know your sizes or shades

This is a great hack for buying things cheaper online. If an item is cheaper online than in store you will totally be influenced to buy online. The problem with online shopping is that there is no fitting room for you to make sure the item fits. A great way to deal with this problem is to go to the store where the item is sold and try it on or test it out.

If the pants in the store say that you wear a size 4 then you will know that ordering a size 4 online will be a good fit. You can also do this with makeup. Go to the store that the foundation you want is sold and get color matched. Never order the wrong size or shade again!

Never get fooled again by using these online shopping hacks for your next shopping spree!

I may never win a Pulitzer, but I will be doing something that makes me happy and I would not change that.
